The discovery of new planets in our solar system is a very interesting and dynamic topic in the world of astronomy. In recent decades, scientists have identified the possibility of additional planets beyond the eight previously known. This research focuses on a phenomenon called “Planet Nine” which is thought to be in the outermost part of our solar system. Planet Nine is thought to be much larger than Earth, with a mass about 5 to 10 times greater. It may be located in a remote and difficult to reach area, making it difficult to see with conventional telescopes. Early research suggests that the existence of Planet Nine could explain some of the orbital anomalies of trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), which orbit the Sun beyond the orbit of Neptune. The way to detect this new planet involves monitoring the movement of celestial bodies over a wide area. Astronomers use advanced surveys, such as the Subaru telescope in Hawaii, to look for signs of Planet Nine. By studying the behavior of small objects on the outskirts of the solar system, scientists are trying to uncover the existence of this planet. Apart from Planet Nine, there are also discussions regarding the possibility of other planets that are smaller and closer to Earth, which could be classified as dwarf planets. An interesting example is sediments clustered in the Kuiper belt region, an area rich in icy rocks, raising hopes for the discovery of more planets. In the context of planetary searches, it is also important to understand how shifts in observation technology affect discovery. With advances in space telescopes such as TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) and JWST (James Webb Space Telescope), astronomers have more accurate tools to search for signs of the existence of new planets. New planets in solar systems not only give us new insight into the solar system, but also into how planets form and interact with each other. Overall, the discovery of new planets brings deeper meaning to the search for life and cosmic evolution, adding to the wonder and mystery of our universe. With more and more discoveries, questions surrounding the origins of the planets and the structure of the solar system are deepening. Each new discovery pushes the boundaries of our knowledge and broadens our perspective on our place in the universe. And it’s important to note that this research was only possible thanks to international collaboration among scientists and astronomers around the world.
