How to Enable Daily Update in Google Actions

Daily update is a communication tool used to keep teams up-to-date on key organisational activities and initiatives. Frequent, short, and structured updates can support alignment, engagement, and trust, while also helping to reduce miscommunication and action rates. They can be delivered in a variety of ways, including brief meetings, email, or messaging platforms like tchop(tm).

In this workshop, we’ll empower your team to rethink their current daily updates and transform them into more efficient and meaningful interactions. This can be done in a virtual or in-person format, and the outcomes will be improved communication, higher productivity, and more effective project management.

To enable daily updates in your Action, configure one of its intents as the triggering intent and add a response that prompts users to subscribe to the update. You can customize this dialog with your own questions and custom parameters if needed (see this guide for more details). When a user invokes this intent and subscribes, they’ll receive Assistant notifications at their scheduled time each day.

You can test your daily updates by using an Assistant-enabled mobile device and logging in to the same Google account you used to build your Action. Invoke your Action and then subscribe to the daily update. When you do, make sure you check your device’s notifications around the scheduled update time to see if it works. You can also use the Actions simulator if you don’t have an Assistant-enabled device. Just make sure to enable the simulator for the device you want to test the action on.
